The networking began in the departure lounge, and quickly escalated, as the winners of British Airways' Face of Opportunity contest boarded, and filled, the special BA charter flight from JFK to Heathrow on September 15, 2009. The first phase of the contest gave U.S. entrepreneurs the opportunity to win tickets on British Airways by penning essays that described how the tickets would benefit their businesses. The competition sprang from a survey BA commissioned of Harvard Business Review readers to gauge perceptions within the international business community about the importance of face-to-face meetings. >>
